COVID-19 Nigeria Update Today
Nigeria has recorded over 13,000 confirmed cases of COVID-19 aNigeria News Headlines June 10 2020fter announcing an additional 663 cases in the last 24 hours.
From the new cases, Lagos has 170, Ogun-108, Bauchi-69, Ebonyi-49, Edo-33, Rivers-30, FCT-26, Jigawa-26, Delta-20, Anambra-17, Gombe-16, Kano-16, Imo-15, Abia-14, Borno-11, Oyo-11, Plateau-8, Kebbi-6, Kaduna-6, Ondo-4, Niger-2, Katsina-2, Osun, Ekiti, Kwara, and Nasarawa have one case each.

From a total of 13464 confirmed cases in the country, 4206 patients have been discharged while 365 have died.

Niger relaxes restriction on markets, worship centres
The Niger State Government has announced the easing of the lockdown and restriction of movement in the state.
The governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello declared this while receiving the technical committee report for the establishment of Niger State COVID-19 molecular testing laboratory in Minna.

The governor ordered that markets, banks, other business activities, and worship centers can open for daily and weekly activities. Curfew will now be from 10 pm to 4 am daily and stressed that there would be a compulsory use of face mask and strict adherence to social distancing at public places.
Bello also noted that the ban on inter-state travels is still in place except for the movement of agricultural produce, manufactured goods, petroleum products and essential services.
Stephen Keshi Stadium now an isolation centre
The Delta State government has established a 70-bed isolation center at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba.
The Secretary to the Delta State Government, (SSG) Mr. Chiedu Ebie, said the Isolation center was established through the collaboration between Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC), Agip, and other partners.
While expressing optimism that the state was adequately prepared to contain an upsurge in COVID-19 cases, Ebie said the state government was preparing isolation centers across the State to ensure quick response to save the lives of Deltans.
Obasanjo begins fish farming, warns of imminent food crisis
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has urged governments in the continent to rise up to the challenges ahead on imminent food crisis post-COVID -19 in Nigeria and Africa at large.
Obasanjo, who stated this at his Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL) Lake Pond in Abeokuta, Ogun State, where he kicked off a fish farming project with 50,000 pieces of sub-adult fishes urged Nigerians to take the issue of post-COVID -19 seriously, saying after the novel virus had ran its full course, it would give way to food crisis in Africa.
The ex-President said the idea came from his thinking out of the box.
