COVID-19 Nigeria Update Today

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has announced 409 new cases of COVID-19, taking the total to 13,873.
Lagos state has 201 news cases, FCT has 85 while Delta- 22. Others are Edo- 16, Nasarawa- 14, Borno- 14, Kaduna- 14, Bauchi-10, Rivers-9, Enugu- 5, Kano- 5, Ogun- 4, Ondo- 4, Bayelsa- 2, Kebbi- 2, and Plateau- 2.
From a total of 13,873 confirmed cases, 4,351 patients have been discharged while 382 deaths were also recorded.

 Anambra has an additional 53 positive cases, records nine deaths

Anambra State Government has recorded the deaths of nine persons as a result of Coronavirus pandemic.

Governor, Willie Obiano said 53 others also tested positive to the virus of the 230 results released from the 302 persons tested. Seventy-two other results are being expected.

The governor, who revealed these during his state broadcast to the people to update on COVID-19, said 13 patients have been discharged, while there are 31 active cases in the state.

Few days after getting infected in the line of duty as the chairman COVID-19 taskforce in the state, Bauchi State Deputy Governor, Baba Tela has tested negative for the virus and was discharged.

The development was made known by the Executive Chairman, Bauchi State Primary Healthcare Development Agency (BASPHCDA) Dr. Rilwanu Mohammed in Bauchi yesterday during a COVID-19 update.

Tela, who is also the chairman of the State Task Force on Lassa Fever was isolated along with the people he had contact with after testing positive for COVID-19 on June 3.

The BASPHCDA executive chairman said the deputy governor was isolated for nine days while a frontline health worker, Dr. Bello Katagum, lost his life in the line of duty.
