22 doctors, 60 others tested positive of Covid-19 in Rivers
22 doctors and 60 others in Rivers state tested positive for coronavirus.
This was revealed by the Rivers State branch of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), which decried lack of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for their members fighting the virus, adding that 60 other health workers also tested positive for COVID-19.
While calling on the state to urgently take an upward review of the hazard allowances paid to doctors under the state government employment, Rivers’ NMA chairperson, Dr. Obelebra Adebiyi, who spoke in Port Harcourt, said despite efforts of the government in containing the spread of the virus, the state was still recording a high number of cases.

According to her, health workers in the state were compelled to provide PPEs for themselves. She, therefore, commended doctors practising in the state for maintaining good professional conduct, despite the challenges.
Rivers has recorded 482 cases so far with 264 and 196 discharged while 22 has died in the last two months.
