COVID-19 Nigeria Update Today

Good day. Here are the updates for COVID-19 in Nigeria today April 14, 2020.

COVID-19: Cases now 343

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has reported twenty new cases of COVID-19. 13 were in Lagos, two were in Edo, Kano and Ogun states while one was in Ondo As at 09:50 pm 13th April.

This brings the total confirmed cases to 343 in Nigeria. 91 have been discharged with 10 deaths recorded from the 19 states that have confirmed cases.

Ondo’s third case is a youth corper

Facts has emerged that the third coronavirus case in Ondo state is a youth corps member who is a Medical Doctor attached to the Army Clinic at the Barracks.

It was reported that he attended to the first index case

 Anambra relocates food markets over COVID-19

In a bid to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the Anambra State Government has announced the relocation of all food markets in the 21 local government areas to designated centres to stop the spread of COVID-19.

According to the government, the move was to enhance social distancing and hygiene during the lockdown period

The Police Public Relation’s Officer, Mohammed Haruna, in a statement on Tuesday said he relocation of all food markets must take effect from Tuesday as all food markets have been shut down completely till further notice.

Katsina begins house-to-house search for Lagos, Abuja returnees

Katsina State Government has began house-to-house search for indigenes that returned from Lagos, Abuja and other states that have recorded outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic.

The Chairman of Katsina COVID-19 Sub Committee and Commissioner for Information,Haddi Mohammed Tsirika, who revealed this on Tuesday said the measure was because most of the returnees followed bushpaths and evaded medical screening at the inter- state borders.

Another patient dies in Lagos

Meanwhile, another patient haS died in Lagos. The patient is a 56-year-old Nigerian died as a result of COVID-19 complications, the Commissioner for Health, Akin Abayomi, disclosed on Tuesday.

According to the Commissioner, the male patient, who died on Monday, recently returned from the United States.

This brings the number of COVID-19-related deaths in Lagos to six and 11 in total presently while the state which it the epicentre has recorded 192 COVID-19 cases with 120 still active.
