COVID-19 Nigeria Update Today

Kwara State has now joined the list of states affected by the COVID-19 pandemic with two cases.

According to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), the addition of six new cases yesterday led to an increase in the number to 238.·

The other cases involve another two in Edo, while there were one in Rivers and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) respectively.
A total of thirty-five patients have been discharged with five deaths recorded so far.
So, from the 238 cases, Lagos which is the epicenter now has 120 cases followed by the FCT with 48. Other include Osun- 20, Oyo- 9 Edo -11, Bauchi- 6, Akwa Ibom- 5, Kaduna- 5, Ogun- 4, Enugu- 2, Ekiti- 2, Rivers-2, Benue- 1, Ondo- 1, and Kwara- 2.
Meanwhile, the Kwara State Technical Committee on COVID-19 has confirmed the two COVID-19 cases in the state.
According to a statement issued by Rafiu Ajakaye, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, who is also the spokesman of the Technical Committee on COVID-19, the first index is a UITH patient, who is a UK returnee died last Thursday and the other is another UK returnee.

The statement was issued a few minutes after the government received official confirmation of test results from the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) Test Centre in Ibadan.

The government will address a news briefing this morning at 11 am to give details and further measures now being taken to tackle the development.
