COVID-19: The Vulnerable Won’t Be Left to Their Own Device, Sanwo-Olu Assured
Lagos Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has reiterated the commitment of his administration to the welfare of the people, saying the vulnerable ones will not be left to their own devices as COVID-19 cases continue to be on the rise in the state.
Lagos currently 68 cases out of the 111 nationwide. This represents over 50 percent of the total cases.
The Lagos state government has since started its welfare package for the class of people, those who live on daily earnings and the jobless due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

He further assured residents that there is no need to panic, and averred that “even as the number of those infected is rising and our fear of community spreading is being confirmed by the cases that are being handled now.
“Let us continue to obey the simple rules prescribed by the experts” He reaffirmed that the gov. will intensify its efforts at disinfecting public places; parks and highways, maintaining that the exercise will extend to rural and riverine areas during the restriction period.”
Reacting to the lockdown order of the President in the state, Ogun and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Sanwo-Olu encouraged the residents to be resilient assuring that the state will beat the dreaded virus.

“Today (yesterday), The President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces President Muhammadu Buhari has placed our state on a 14-day lockdown to help us in our fight against #COVID19. We have have been preparing for this and I will like to explain how it will work for everyone.
“This lockdown affects all our residents. The only exemptions are healthcare-related businesses; food processing, distribution and retail companies, petroleum distribution and retail entities, power generation, transmission, and distribution companies and private security companies.
“We will use this containment period to identify, trace and isolate all individuals that have come into contact with confirmed cases. We will ensure the treatment of confirmed cases while restricting further spread to other states.
“The NCDC and Lagos State Ministry of Health are working hard at ensuring confirmed cases get the best care possible. I guarantee that we will do all that is necessary to get through this period seamlessly.”
