COVID-19: ‘This Can Only Be Possible in A Zoo’, Fani-Kayode Speaks on Those Killed By Police During Lockdown

It os no longer news that the security agencies in Nigeria have killed 18 people in the process of effecting a lockdown order of the President, Muhammadu Buhari and some governors.

The order was meant to protect lives due to COVID-19 pandemic.

But a member of the security agencies, the Nigerian Police Force, in particular, has been criticized over how they managed the situation.

There had been videos online showing their attitude to the people whilst maintaining the lockdown order.

Voicing his concern over the development, former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode has lambasted the current administration over what has been happening.

Although the federal government had announced some palliative measures, it is yet to get to many people living below the poverty level.

Fani-Kayode, a critic of President Buhari took to his Twitter page and pointed out that this can only happen in a zoo. Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPoB) has been referring to Nigeria as a zoo.

“More Nigerians have been killed by security forces trying to enforce the ‘stay at home’ order than by Covid 19. Those that are not shot in the streets have no light and food and are starving to death at home. This can only happen in a zoo, a jungle or a lunatic asylum,” he wrote.
