Cristiano Ronaldo fined $22,600 by UEFA for goal celebration gesture

Juventus star player, Cristiano Rinaldo has been fined €22,600 for his goal celebration gesture.

Ronaldo made the gesture after he scored a hat-trick in the match against Atletico Madrid.

After he scored the goal, Ronaldo had rushed to the stands and pretended to hold his privates, in mimicry of how Atletico Madrid manager, Diego Simeone celebrated against Juventus in the first leg at Madrid.

Rinaldo’s goal qualified Juventus for the UEFA Champions League round of eight and will be facing Ajax.

However, the goal celebration has now earned Ronaldo a fine to the tune of €22,600 by UEFA.

Atletico Madrid Manager, Diego Simeone who first made the offensive gesture was also fined  €20,000.

According to the ruling of the control, ethics and disciplinary body of the European football organisation on Thursday (March 21 2019), Ronaldo was guilty of improper conduct.
