2019 Polls: INEC Redeploys Staff In Kwara

Ahead of the coming elections, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Kwara state, Mallam Garba Madami, has redeployed some staff of the commission.

Speaking with journalists in Ilorin on Thursday, the INEC boss, who said that the affected staff had overstayed in one location, added that the development may influence the election.


FG’s Policy On Infrastructure Maintenance To Boost Artisans’ Living Standard ― Fashola

The Federal Government on Thursday said the newly approved National Maintenance Framework for public buildings would improve the living standard of artisans and middle-classes in the country.

It said the approval, which was provoked by a memorandum from the Ministry of Power, Works and Housing on the maintenance culture of Nigerians became imperative to correct the general notion that the country lacked maintenance culture.


Buhari Has Failed In Security, Anti-Graft War, Job Creation ― Obasanjo

A former President Olusegun Obasanjo has asked Nigerians not to be in despair but take concrete actions to protect and safeguard the nation’s nascent democracy current under threat in the hands of the All Progressives Congress-led government.

He spoke on Thursday at the public presentation of a book, “Politics as Dashed Hopes in Nigeria” authored by Dr Auwalu Anwar, where he was the chairman of the occasion.

He said while President Muhammadu Buhari and APC should be given the credit for the ouster of the former President Goodluck Jonathan and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) led government when Nigerians were disenchanted, noted Buhari has failed in all indices of development.


Oando Employees Donate Materials To Flood Victims

Employees of Oando Plc have donated relief materials to victims of flood in Rivers and Bayelsa states respectively.

Oando employees donated food and non-perishable items such as bags of rice; cartons of noodles; disinfectant; mosquito treated nets; clothing to over 2,000 displaced families in some communities as well as those in Government-approved camps for internally displaced people (IDPs) in their host communities of Rivers and Bayelsa states.


Onnoghen Can’t Preside Over His Matter ― ACF

The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has said the controversy over the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen was unfortunate.

This was even as it said that the CJN cannot preside over his matter.

Monarchs in Yewaland have described the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State, Senator Buruji Kashamu, as “an adopted son of Yewaland”.

Speaking when Kashamu paid a consultative visit to the Yewa Traditional Rulers-in-Council in Ilaro on Wednesday, the Eselu of Oja Odan, Oba Ebenezer Akinyemi, said Kashamu was an adopted son of Yewaland, adding that he was entitled to the same rights and privileges as the sons and daughters of Yewaland.


Zamfara: APC Governorship Candidates Fault INEC

A coalition of All Progressives Congress governorship candidates in Zamfara State have faulted the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) over its insistence that APC would not be fielding candidates in February election. A federal high court in Abuja had on last Friday upheld INEC decision.

Addressing newsmen on behalf of the Group of 8 tagged, G-8, an aspirant, Honourable Aminu Sani said the judgment fell short of what transpired in the state as he noted that the APC adopted a consensus arrangement to produce its standard bearers for the general elections.

He declared that INEC lacks the power to overrule the APC on the consensus option since there was a provision for it in the party constitution.
