We Have No Plans To Leave Nigeria ― PZ Cussons

The management of PZ Cussons has refuted a report circulating on the social media claiming the multinational is planning to leave Nigeria, saying “the headline is totally false and misleading.”

In a release issued to this effect on Friday, PZ Cussons said, “We confirm to our consumers, employees, business partners and stakeholders that Nigeria still remains a market of interest for us and have made no plans to leave Nigeria.


Seyi Makinde Explains Absence At BBC Debate

The PDP Candidate in Oyo state Engr Seyi Makinde has cited earlier commitments as the reason for his absence at the BBC Yoruba organised political debate in Ibadan today.

According to a statement from his campaign organisation and signed by Prince Dotun Oyelade, he had agreed with the people of Ibadan South East that he would kick off his campaign early enough and he was unwilling to change the sequence that will take him to Oranyan, Orita aperin, Felele, Bere, Odinjo and a host of other important places.


Itsekiri Leaders Deny Supporting Atiku

The Itsekiri Leaders of Thought (ILT) has dissociated itself from an alleged plan by the Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF) to endorse the presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, as the sole candidate for the Niger Delta.

The Itsekiri elders and leaders made this known in a statement issued January 30 and signed by the chairman of the group, Chief Edward Ekpoko, on behalf of ILoT.


Medical Workers Set For Nationwide Strike

Following the expiration of 15-day ultimatum issued by the Joint Health Sector Union (JOHESU), the health workers across the country are set for another round of a nationwide strike.

Already, JOHESU has called for an urgent meeting of its National Executive Council (NEC) meeting scheduled for Abuja on Monday; while it has also issued a directive to all its members to await further directives “which shall be communicated from the JOHESU headquarters forthwith.”


Panic, As Military Deploys Gunboats To Gbaramatu Kingdom

Perhaps ahead of the February 16 presidential elections, gunboats, said to number about 20, have been deployed to parts of inflammable Gbaramatu kingdom in Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State.

Party Crisis: Buhari Calls Off Zamfara Rally

President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday abruptly called off the All Progressive Congress (APC) presidential campaign rally scheduled for Sunday in Zamfara ostensibly because of the internal wrangling within the state chapter of the ruling party.

The advance team of the president, which had already been dispatched to the state, was recalled to Abuja on Friday.

The rally has now been rescheduled for Sunday, February 10 by which time frayed tempers are expected to have calmed down


Don’t Allow Yourself Be Used For Rigging, CAN Charges INEC, Security Agencies

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) have charged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the security agencies not allow themselves to be used by politicians to rig the forthcoming general elections.

This is contained in Communique issued by the Christian Apex body at the end of its first quarter meeting held in Abuja.


Kwara SUBEB, LG Workers To Get Full January Salaries

All categories of workers at the local government areas of Kwara state will receive full salaries for the month of January, just as 16 Local Government Areas in the state have shared a sum of N581.7 million from the State Joint Accounts Allocation Committee (JAAC) for the first month of the year.

Speaking with journalists after the JAAC meeting in Ilorin on Wednesday, the state chairman, Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Mr Joshua Omokanye, said that the local government chairmen unanimously agreed at the meeting to step down their January running cost to enable the workers to receive full salaries.


Oando Employees Donate Materials To Flood Victims

Employees of Oando Plc have donated relief materials to victims of flood in Rivers and Bayelsa states respectively.

Oando employees donated food and non-perishable items such as bags of rice; cartons of noodles; disinfectant; mosquito treated nets; clothing to over 2,000 displaced families in some communities as well as those in Government-approved camps for internally displaced people (IDPs) in their host communities of Rivers and Bayelsa states.
