De Bruyne Names Mane His Premier League Player Of The Season

Manchester City playmaker has named Liverpool and Senegalese forward, Sadio Mane his Premier League player of the season. The Belgian insisted that the Liverpool player had been the total package for the Reds this term and hence, deserved that tag.

The Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) Awards was to be announced initially, on April 26. However, it’s been naturally moved back along with the rest part of the season.

Sadio Mane has found the back of the net on 14 occasions this term while registering 6 assists. He’s been one of Jurgen Klopp’s standout performers the term, helping Liverpool to the summit of the Premier League standings.

When asked on BT Sport who his winner was, the Belgium International responded:

“I would say Mane.

“I think he has been the total package this year for Liverpool.

“He has been important, so if I had to choose somebody, I would choose Mane.”

Kevin de Bruyne himself was also a strong contender for the award, after registering a combined 25 goals and assists in England’s top-flight.

The list of award favorites as expected was dominated by Liverpool players, with the Reds holding on firmly to a 25-point lead over the league’s second-placed side.

The relentless attacking performances of Mane no doubt put him at the summit of most people’s list. Some other strong contenders were last season’s winner, Virgil Van Dijk and Liverpool’s captain, Jordan Henderson.

Despite dominating English football clearly this term, Mane said the title charge didn’t come any easy.

“Easy? Oh, I wish,” Mane told BBC Sport before the season was interrupted.

“We know the Premier League is the best league in the world and every single game you have to give 100% if you want to win.

“It’s what we always try and I think it’s working very well but we have to keep working hard to get what we want.

“Our target from the beginning was to win the league, so if we win it, it will be great for the club and for the fans.”
