Dele Alli Signs a New deal to Stay At Tottenham Until 2022!

Dele Alli has signed a 6-year contract extension with Tottenham Hotspur and is set to remain with the club at least until 2022. This will come as a huge news to Spurs fans who have had a rather tough 2 weeks leading up to this announcement. One could even say this contract is a calculated move by the club officials to take some heat away from happenings in the club in recent times.

With their Stadium opening plans being pushed further into 2019, the fans and team are getting impatient with the management of the club. Also financial records recently announced puts them in a “not so good” position financially, mainly due to construction costs for their nrw 62,000 capacity stadium

Also, there are signs of uncertainty over the future of the club. This has generated the interest of Real Madrid in signing Mauricio Pochettino as their Manager following the sacking of Julen Lopetegui. Madrid are also touted to be interested in bringing Harry Kane to the Bernabeu and will hope the transfer attracts Pochettino to dump Tottenham.

Now with the extension of Dele’s contract, the Spurs management will be hoping to quell rumors of uncertainty and disunity. Players like Harry Kane, Davinson Sanchez, Son Heung Ming had their contracts renewed in the summer so it would seem Spurs are trying to tie down their major assets. They will now be hoping Christian Eriksen signs a new deal, with his current deal expected to expire in 2020.

Team manager Pochettino also signed a contract extension this last summer. This means that if Poch were to go to Real Madrid, Tottenham will be due a huge sum in compensation.

22 year old Dele Alli will be hoping to continue his steady return from injury which has seen him miss a couple of games in the past three weeks. He joined Spurs from MK Dons in 2015 for just £5 million and has since been a huge revelation for club and country.

Talking to the club’s official website, Dele said,

“I’m very thankful to the club, “The club has been fantastic to me. They’ve helped me to improve. We’ve got a great manager, a great group of players and I couldn’t see myself improving as a player anywhere else.

“I’m happy. I feel good, I feel fit. Obviously, it was disappointing with the injury I had recently but I’ve come back strong and I’ve been putting in some good work. It’s been a good few years but I don’t really look too much into the past or what’s happened so far. I want to keep improving and, like I said, I feel likes I’m at a great club to do that.

Tottenham are still in contention for the Premier league title, Champions league and EnglishFootball League.
