Dimeji Bankole reveals why he lost Ogun State 2019 Governorship election

– ADP Candidate, Dimeji Bankole has revealed why he lost the Ogun State Governorship Election

– He disclosed that it was as a result of the high rate of poverty in the state

– The ADP candidate disclosed he has congratulated Dapo Abiodun for his victory in the poll

Former Speaker of the house of representatives and Governorship candidate of the Action Democratic Party ADP in Ogun State, Dimeji Bankole has reacted to the outcome of the 2019 Governorship Election in the state.

Dimeji Bankole in a statement today at Abeokuta disclosed the reason why he lost the election to Dapo Abiodun of the All Progressive Congress APC.

The Speaker disclosed that he lost the election because of the high rate of poverty in the state.

He said the party hopes were high and their chances were bright as well, but “the turn of the event, however, proved that we underrated the poverty level in the land.

“There was a high rate of voters apathy- the highest ever in the history of Ogun State. When it dawned on us at the last moment, we dared to be different.

“Every action comes with its consequences and we were ready to bear the consequences of that decision.

He, however, disclosed that he was not desperate to win the election as he had contested and won elections and also lost in the past.

“Moreover, I had contested and won elections, just as I had lost elections. So there was no need for desperation. The rest is a story for another day,” Bankole added.

Dimeji Bankole also revealed that he had congratulated the Ogun state, Governor-Elect, Dapo Abiodun for his victory in the poll.

The ADP candidate and 40 other Governorship candidates participated in the Ogun State Governorship election which took place on the 9th of March 2019.
