EFCC Arraigns Three Suspected Internet Fraudsters In Oyo State

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Ibadan Zonal Office on Monday, March 2019, arraigned the trio of Segun Isaac, Olamide Samuel and Babatunde Afeez before Justice P. I. Ajoko of the Federal High Court sitting in Ibadan, Oyo State on the basis of internet fraud.

There was a statement which was released from the antigraft agency, and the statement made it clear that the arrested suspects were arraigned separately before the judge, and charged with different offences, all bordering on obtaining money by false pretence and possession of fraudulent documents which all boils down to internet fraud.

While Isaac Segun was charged on a two-count charge, the other suspected internet fraudster identified as Olamide is facing a five-count charge. However, the last suspect identified as Babatunde is accused of a seven-count charge.

Meanwhile, it is important to note that the three suspected suspects all pleaded not guilty to their respective charges.

The prosecuting counsel of the first and second defendants identified as Sanusi Galadanchi, and his colleague prosecuting the third defendant identified as Shamsudeen Bashir, together prayed that the court should release  a hearing date and also for an order to remand the arraigned suspects in prison.

The defence counsel for the three defendants identified as E.E. Jacob, told the court that he had bail applications for his clients.

The Judge of the case, Justice Ajoko, meanwhile, adjourned the case of the first and second defendants to March 20, 2019, for hearing of the bail applications, and April 12, 2019, for the final trial.

Justice Ajoko also adjourned the case of the third defendant to March 19, 2019, for hearing of bail application and April 12, 2019, for trial.
