EFCC Nabs Party Agent With Tons of Money Allegedly Sharing To Voters

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Maiduguri Zonal office has nabbed an individual identified as Abba Ali Abbari, known to be a party agent, delegated alleged to have been hired to share some money to people from Auno, Dalwa, Jakana in Konduga LGA Borno State.

Abba Ali Abbari was apprehended by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) at the NYSC Internally Displaced Persons camp with the sum of N1, 290,000.00, with a template given to him by a party Chairman Election Committee to pay the sum of N50, 000 (Fifty Thousand Naira) to party agents, in accordance to what he stated.

In a similar case, Alhaji Garba Isah, a party stakeholder was also apprehended by Operatives of the Maiduguri Zonal office at Ali Mongonu Teacher’s Village Internally Displaced Persons camp with the sum of N300, 000.00, (Three Hundred Thousand Naira) while he was sharing the money to voters from Kukawa and Doran Baga in the camp.

The second apprehended suspect arrested by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), said in a statement, Alhaji Garba Isah:

 “my duty is to take care of ballot boxes and to equally share money to voters. This particular money was given to me by a stakeholder.”

While the arrest of the suspected party agents who were distributing money to voters at the Teacher’s Village IDP camp, those who collected the money from the said party agents allegedly vandalized a vehicle belonging to a staff of the Commission.

However, the DPO of Doran Baga got into the matter, made the situation to be under control.
