El-Zakzaky Laments Condition At Indian Hospital While Seeking Return To Nigeria

Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, leader of the Islamic movement, Shiites has alleged that the conditions of the Indian hospital where he and his wife, Zeenat was taken to are worse than that of Nigeria.

The Shiites leader said he was seeking a return to Nigeria to assess the situation.

He said this in an audio that has now gone viral and confirmed as authentic.

The cleric and leader of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN) was flown to India on Monday following a Kaduna court ruling last week.

El-Zakzaky had requested that he and his wife be flown to India for proper medical treatment following the deterioration of his health and that is his wife, Zeenat during their time in detention.

The couple had been detained since December 2015 after a clampdown by soldiers who killed at least 347 IMN members.

In the audio, the cleric accused the Federal Government of Nigeria of frustrating his medical treatment in far-away India.

He made these revelations in Hausa where also described the conditions in the hospital as “pathetic and worrisome”.

He alleged that the management of Medanta Hospital, New Delhi were threatened not to admit him into the hospital.

“The hospital officials received us well they told us that they parked two ambulance vehicles, deceiving the crowd while taking us out through another way, saying that it was for our own safety.

“On getting to the hospital, we were placed under a tighter security situation worse than what we have been witnessed in Nigeria. We are currently more confined than when we were in Nigeria, worse than a prison setting.

“Contrary to what was agreed before our arrival, that our own personal doctors would supervise this treatment. Now they’ve changed the arrangement. So, we objected receiving treatment from strange doctors without the supervision of our own trusted physicians,’’ he noted.

The leader is now reportedly seeking a return to Nigeria to source for a trusted and reliable country among those who offered to help. Among these countries are Turkey and Malaysia.
