“I had just finished filming Season 1 of “Game of Thrones.” Then I was struck with the first of two aneurysms. Emilia Clarke wrote in her essay Published on The New Yorker, titled “A battle for my life”

She noticed the first one during a fitness training when she felt so “fatigued that I could barely put on my sneakers ”.
Later when she started the workout, she felt as though “an elastic band were squeezing my brain.”
“Meanwhile, the pain—shooting, stabbing, constricting pain—was getting worse. At some level, I knew what was happening: my brain was damaged.” Emilia Clarke wrote in her essay.
“To keep my memory alive, I tried to recall, among other things, some lines from “Game of Thrones,” before she was later rushed to the emergency room of Whittington Hospital.
She was diagnosed to have a subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH). A life threatening aneurysm that needed immediate surgery. She was just 24, in the middle of a busy life.
After the surgery and when she was said to have passed the crucial mark.
A nurse asked for her name and “nonsense words tumbled out of my mouth and I went into a blind panic”
“I asked the medical staff to let me die. My job—my entire dream of what my life would be—centered on language, on communication. Without that, I was lost.” Emilia Clarke said in her touching personal story.
The second aneurysm struck her after finishing season 3, she went for a brain scan.
And it was discovered that the growth at the side of her brain that the doctor thought might be harmless had doubled in size.
