EU Election Observation Mission make 30 Recommendations to INEC

– The European Union Election Observation Mission has released it reports on the 2019 General Election in Nigeria

– The body also made 30 recommendations to INEC for subsequent elections

According to a new report, the European Union EU Election Observation Mission EOM which was part of the external bodies that came to Nigeria to monitor the 2019 General elections has released it reports on the conduct of the election.

The EU Election Observation Mission also made 30 recommendations to the country electoral body, the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC, which would it help it in the conduct of subsequent elections in the country.

According to the EOM, there is need for an urgent improvement of electoral process and restoring of faith in the system.

The EU EOM also confirmed the release of the report via it Twitter handle, it wrote, “The Election Observation Mission has released its final report on Nigeria’s 2019 elections, stressing an urgent need to improve the electoral process and restore faith in the system. The report contains 30 recommendations for improved future elections.”

Also, the EU OEM noted that there is great need for a more transparent results collation and transmission process in coming elections by INEC.
However, the INEC Chairman, Mr Mahmoud Yakubu had on Friday in a statement promised to ensure the implementation of the groups recommendations in future elections.

He also applauded the the EU for their efforts especially having been a part of Nigeria’s progress towards democratic consolidation since 1999.

In another report, INEC in a statement at the Presidential Election Tribunal via it counsel disclosed that it doesn’t have a server for uploading of result during the 2019 elections despite claims by the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP, Alh. Atiku Abubakar.
