Everton vs. Tottenham Hotspur – EPL December 2018 Preview and Scores

Match Preview

Everton host Tottenham Hotspur at Goodison park in the last match of the premier league before Christmas.

Spurs are currently 3rd on the table and in good spirits while Everton have slipped down to 8th on the table after an initial good run of games.

Everton

A recent dip in form has seen the Toffees slip behind Wolverhampton Wanderers into eighth place after 17 games, although victory on Sunday could see them jump to sixth depending on results earlier in the weekend.

Everton have picked up just two points from the last 12 on the table and are yet to win a game this december. Ome would say that the Merseyside derby defeat at the start of this month was the catalyst for their slump in form.

The top goal for Marco Silva is to place Everton into contention for a top-six spot – which is by no means out of reach considering Manchester United’s poor form – but to do that they will need to improve their record in these matches.

A good result against Tottenham will likely boost the team morale and have them challenging again for top six.

Richarlison and Andre Gomes both missed the training earlier this week due to a bug but both are now certified fit and will definitely feature.

Richarlison is expected to lead the line once again, having scored four goals in his last four Premier League home games.

Everton possible starting eleven:

Pickford; Coleman, Zouma, Keane, Mina, Digne; Walcott, Gomez, Sigurdsson, Bernard; Richarlison

Tottenham Hotspur

Liverpool have just six points more than Spurs at the start of the weekend and while Pochettino’s side are relying on slip-ups from a couple of teams like Chelsea and Arsenal who are currently faltering, they are still in the conversation as we approach the halfway stage of the campaign.

Tottenham have also had a good away form; they have picked up more points than any other team away so far this season, and their tally of eight wins from 10 games is already more than they managed in 20 of their 26 previous full seasons in the Premier League.

Spurs will be hoping to keep up the march for champions league spaces as they face Everton.

Harry Kane has scored a brace in each of his last three league appearances against Everton, and should he manage another on Sunday then he would join Michael Owen – against Newcastle – to have ever scored two or more goals in four consecutive Premier League games against a particular opponent.

Ben Davies and Davinson Sanchez are expected to start in defense. Dele Alli and Son Heung Ming are expected to also keep their spaces due to their goal scoring exploits in the last match.

Tottenham possible starting eleven:

Lloris; Trippier, Alderweireld, Sanchez, Davies; Sissoko, Winks; Son, Alli, Eriksen; Kane
