Everton Youngster, Ademola Lookman Snubs Nigeria

Newly signed Everton wonder kid, Ademola Lookman, has come out to rule out any chance of featuring for his fatherland (Nigeria) – choosing instead to look forward to life with the Three Lions of England.

In his first interview after scoring the fourth goal that helped put Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City to the sword, last weekend, Lookman said he is happy representing English national teams, and is looking forward to more of such challenge.

Multiple reports have stated that the Nigeria Football Federation would love the 19-year-old striker switch allegiance to Nigeria and possibly feature for Super Eagles in the near future, despite representing England at various youth levels. However, Lookman’s latest remarks has cast a dye on that possibility.

Speaking on his exhilarating start to life in the Premier League, one in which he grabbed a goal on his debut against a big team such as Manchester City, Lookman said, his time with English youth teams had prepared him for the big occasion of the Premier League.

He said: “I have progressed a lot the last few years, I have a very sweet experience at Charlton, learning and working my way up, which I believe is why am at Everton”.

“Playing for England U-19s has also helped my career a lot. It got me exposed and there’s a whole joy that comes from playing international football, something I experienced and want to keep experiencing with England”.

Ademola Lookman is a 19-year-old England-bred youngster who made football headlines when he signed for Everton for a fee of £11 million. He is of Nigerian decent and is still eligible to play for Nigeria – if we can convince him to.
