- Durotoye says other values trees should be looked at to check the proliferation of cybercrime.
- He laments the quest for material success in Nigeria.
Motivational speaker, Fela Durotoye, has said the fight against internet fraud known as Yahoo Yahoo should not be left alone to the government and it should not be blamed for the rise in the crime in Nigeria.
Speaking during the Redefine Success Summit held at the Fountain of Life Church, Ilupeju, Lagos, The Presidential candidate of the Alliance for New Nigeria (AA) in the last election insisted that the rise in Internet fraud was the failure of the society in general.
According to the President of the Gemstone Nation Builders Foundation, “One of the pillars of putting the right values in the society is government, But there are other peers like the family, educational system, religious institutions and other organisations.
“So, I think we should look at other pillars that should infuse values but have also failed. We shouldn’t blame the government alone. We need to get the right values into the next generation, which is very important.”
While lamenting that in the quest for material success in Nigeria, Durotoye who pointed that many people were doing whatever they needed to do to attain it noted that the summit was set up to redefine success and the pathway to success using successful people to tell their stories.
“I think the young people that attended this summit have learned how to be successful from the talents and gifts. The important thing is to add values to the society. In doing that, they will start businesses that will grow and also resolve issues of Internet fraud,” he said.
