FG Declares Friday February 22nd A Public Holiday, Exclude Bankers

The Federal Government of Nigeria on Wednesday, declared Friday, February 22, 2019, as a public holiday across the country in preparation for the February 23 presidential and parliamentary elections slated for Saturday.

The Ministry of Interior in a statement, yesterday, however, excluded bankers and those offering essential services across the country. He charged those offering essential services across the nation to continue working in order to push the country forward despite during the time of the elections.

In a statement made available by the Ministry of Interior, he said:

“The Federal Government declares Friday, February 22, 2019 as work-free day. Those providing essential duties and bankers are excluded. “The work-free day is to enable citizens return to their poling units for the reschedule Presidential & National Assembly elections. “Security agencies have been directed to ensure safety of lives and property before, during and after the general election.”
