FG Declares Monday Public Holiday

The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced that Monday 12th December, would be a public holiday to observe the Eid-El-Maulud festival.

The holiday was made public by the Excecutive Minister of Interior, Retired Lt.- Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau, in a communiqué issued to newsmen in Abuja, yesterday.

The press statement which was released by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Alhaji Muhammadu Maccido, the minister urged all Muslims and the entire public to support President Muhammadu Buhari in building a strong, thriving, united and peaceful Nigeria.

The minister also called on Nigerians to pray for the peace and progress of Nigeria – he implored well-meaning Nigerians to be a little less critical but supportive of the Buhari led Federal government and its agenda for nation building.

The statement concluded with the minister wishing Nigerians a happy and peaceful Eid-El-Maulud celebration.

The Eid-El-Maulud celebration is an Islamic festival which aims to celebrate the birth of Prophet Mohammed.
