FIFA Rankings: Nigeria And Ghana Drop One Place In Latest Listing
The Super Eagles of Nigeria have fallen one place down the pecking order in the latest ranking released on Thursday by world’s football governing body, FIFA.
According to the latest FIFA rankings, the Super Eagles now occupy 34th place, one place below their ranking last month at 33rd.
Nigeria, who are three-time African Champions finished at 34th position with a total of 1482 points following their 2-2 draw against Ukraine in the last International break.
In Africa however, the African giants led by Gernot Rohr still occupy 3rd position just behind Senegal and Tunisia.
Senegal are 20th in the world rankings while Tunisa maintain a comfortable 29th position. Reigning African Champions, Algeria who sit just behind Nigeria in the African rankings are 38th while Morocco – fifth best team in Africa according to FIFA – occupy 39th position.
Djibouti are one of many big movers in the distinguished listing. They moved nine places up the ranking following a two-legged win over Eswatini to advance to the second round of the World Cup qualifiers for the second time in their history.
Of all big movers, Cayman Islands and Grenada were the biggest. Both countries moved 11 and 13 places upwards respectively.

Belgium remain in chief position with 1752 points followed closely by World Champions, France in second, Brazil in third, England in fourth and Portugal in fifth position.
Ghana have also dropped one place in the latest September ranking. They dropped from 50th to 51st position owing to their inactivity in the past month.
They were interestingly at this same position and are sandwiches between Hungary and Scotland in 50th and 52nd positions respectively.
Though the Black Stars dropped in the rankings, their total points accumulation remains unchanged.
They hold on firmly to seventh position in Africa rankings, just ahead of Cameroon, Congo DR and Cote d’ivoire who make up the top 10.
