According to a latest report, the Former Gov. of Ogun State, Gbenga Daniel has declared his retirement from active politics in the country.
The former Governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, in his letter of resignation to the Peoples Democratic Party PDP, which was directed to the National Chairman of the party, Prince Uche Secondus, dated March 14, 2019, made this official announcement to resign from partisan politics.
The Former Gov. refused to give the details behind his resignation but he said that the decision to quit partisan and active politics was personal to him.
Gbenga Daniel, who happens to be one of the political stalwarts of the PDP in Ogun state prior to his retirement was the Director-General of Atiku Abubakar Presidential Campaign Organization for the 2019 Presidential election.
The former Gov. disclosed he would focus on some new vocations and take up new challenges following his resignation.
Gbenga Daniel in his letter said, “This is to inform you of my intention to resign from active and partisan politics with effect from today, the 14th day of March, 2019.
My decision in this regard is entirely personal to me and has served in various capacities, including as Governor of Ogun State, I have resolved to immerse myself in some other vocations and take on some new challenges.”
Gbenga Daniel was Ogun State 14th Gov. between 29 May 2003 and 29 May 2011, which made him the longest serving Governor in the South Western State.
He took over from Olusegun Osoba as Governor and handed over to Ibikunle Amosu.
Gbenga Daniel is the owner of a Daily Newspaper, Nigerian Compass and Kresta Laurel.
