Four Men Arraigned In Court Over Illegal Drug Factory In Lagos State
4 men were, on Tuesday, arraigned by the Police in an Ikeja Magistrate’s Court in Lagos state for allegedly operating an illegal drug factory and manufacturing fake drugs.
The suspected offenders are identified to be Emeka Madu, who is 47 years of age, Eze Young, who is 26 years of age, Chijoke Umunna, who is just 19 years of age and Kingsley Obilor, who is over 22 years old are awaiting trial on a three-count charge. The suspected offenders were charged with conspiracy, illegal manufacturing of drugs and operation of an illegal drug factory in Lagos state.
The Police prosecutor, Peter Nwangwu informed the court that the suspected offenders committed the crimes on December 13, 2018, at 2, Okunneye Street, Ikotun-Egbe, in Lagos state.
The Police prosecutor further stated that the suspected offenders conspired with others now at large to commit the crime.
The Police prosecutor alleged that Emeka Madu, one of the suspected offenders, one time in the year 2014, unlawfully took possession of two tablet machines, two blister machines and other equipment for the purpose of operating an illegal drug factory without obtaining a license or any formal training.
Furthermore, it was also reported that the suspected offenders were previously apprehended by the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) on Nov.23 2018.

The police also stated that the factory was raided by IRT and the four suspected offenders were apprehended. The spokesman of the Force Headquarters known to be Moshood, stated that Emeka Madu was the owner of the factory known as Cabara.
Moshood said in a statement that:
“The police recovered cartons of different fake drugs, large quantity of unprocessed chemical substances used in manufacturing drugs, machines for processing, manufacturing and packaging of these drugs as well as forged pharmaceutical papers. “Plastic buckets of different types suspected to contain fake drugs were also recovered,”
The Police prosecutor stated that the offences contravened the provisions of sections, 160 (1), (a), (b), 252 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015. After the charges were read to the suspected offenders, they pleaded not guilty afterwards.
The Ikeja court magistrate adjourned the case until February 28, 2019, for mention.
