Fulham Vs Tottenham 20th January Match Review

With injuries to Harry Kane and Heung Son-Min away for International duty, Tottenham looked pretty lethargic in attack against Fulham with Llorente, the man called in to replace Kane being particularly terrible in the fixture.

Harry Kane was always going to be missed. But who cares, when you have another Harry in Harry Winks. Let’s get down to the talking points.

Centre-forward for the night slotted the ball into the net just minutes after he start of the match. Guess whose net? His. The striker was terrible simply put as he also lost two good chances in front of Fulham’s goal.

Claudio Ranieri’s side were the better ones in the first half as they were perfect in all departments on the field of play. They had their chances begging several times with Hugo Lloris making two beautiful saves.

The Cottagers compressed all the available spaces in front of goal with Spurs lacking in ideas in the final third. Llorente missed what should have been a goal after he mistimed a header following a cross form Jan Vertonghen.

On the other hand it was Babel, a loanee who had the chance to make another goal but his head went way over the crossbar.

Spurs started on the front foot in the second half as they aimed to put the defeat to Manchester United behind and get the winner. It was Dele Alli who gave them that bit of hope after equalizing as he headed home from a ball from Christian Eriksen.

Spurs went on rampage thereafter as they looked to exploit any bit of space they could find. They pressed and pressed but none seemed enough, at least not until Eriksen had a shot at goal. However, it was Maxime Le Marchand who threw himself into the path of the ball to keep out the shot.

After all said and done, it was the Harry Winks who saved the day as he gave his side the winner three minutes into stoppage time. The other Harry? He tweeted via Twitter – Winksssy. A well-fought win for the Lilywhites.
