Gov Bello Declares Total Lockdown in Niger Over COVID-19

After the discovery of a COVID-19 case in Niger state, Governor Abubakar Bello has declared the total lockdown from Monday, April 13th.

This discovery of the first COVID-19 case in the state, according to the Commissioner of Health, Dr. Muhammad Maikusidi, came from Limawa Area in Minna.

The Governor also directed the State COVID-19 taskforce to isolate the area for 14 days and all religious activities should remain suspended till further notice.

“The Niger State Government has imposed a complete Lockdown of the state for two weeks following the Covid19 index case in the state, starting from Monday 13th of April 2020. Within this period, there will be a window for people to go out and restock their food items,” a tweet fro the governor reads.
