Governor Udom Emmanuel’s Aide Reportedly Kidnapped

Capt Iniobong Ekong (Rtd), a PDP chieftain and the senior special adviser on security matters to Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom state, has been kidnapped.

According to reports, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, Capt Iniobong Ekong, was reportedly abducted on Friday, February 22, by soldiers in Akwa Ibom.

Confirming Ekong’s abduction, was the commissioner for information in Akwa Ibom state, she stated that the PDP chief is being held incommunicado at an unknown location in Port Harcourt.

iDONSABI gathers that the soldiers who picked up Capt Iniobong Ekong, the PDP Chieftain were allegedly sent by the GOC of the 6 Division of the Nigerian Army, purportedly following a petition written by Senator Godswill Akpabio.

When the police public relations officer identified as Odiko McDon was contacted, he stated that the police was yet to receive such information.

However, McDon promised to investigate the matter immediately.

Meanwhile, election materials for the presidential and National Assembly elections on Saturday February 23rd, have got to the scene of the polling unit in Uyo, the state capital.

According to reports, the voters were known to have come out as early as 6:30 am at the various polling units along Ikot Ekpene road, Afaha Ube Itam road, Asutan Street, Abak Road, Oron Road; Idoro Road and Wellington Bassey Way Uyo, where the government house is situated.

An ex-governor of Akwa Ibom identified as Godswill Akpabio, has stated that the people of Akwa Ibom are ready to vote for President Muhammadu Buhari.

Godswill Akpabio, a present senator representing Akwa Ibom North at the National Assembly, stressed that the people of Akwa Ibom state are 80% to 90% ready to give their mandates to Buhari during the elections.
