According to a report, a group under the name, Concerned Citizens of Sokoto State, has responded to the claims by the Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP in the 2019 Election, Atiku Abubakar, that his grandfather is from Sokoto state and as such linking his origin to the state.
The Group in a statement disclosed that Atiku Abubakar has never associated himself with Wurno Local Government area of Sokoto state, where he claimed his Grandfather hailed from.
According to the group, Atiku false claims is coming after he had in 2003 described Sokoto, Kano and the other North Western States as ungrateful power zealots
The Sokoto State Coordinator of the Group, retired Squadron Leader Aminu Bala Sokoto in a statement with pressmen said, “Atiku who is now over 72 years old has never associated himself with Wurno , headquarters of Wurno Local Government of Sokoto State, where he claims his grandfather hailed from.
“His false and atrocious claim is just coming now that he is being bogged down by a protracted electoral litigation sequel to the 2019 Presidential elections.
“He is now claiming to hail from Sokoto and Jigawa States. He has forgotten that, in 2003 he had maliciously described the people of Sokoto, Kano and the other North Western States as ungrateful power zealots”.
The group however challenged the PDP Presidential Candidate to make public his ancestral family in Wurno town or look elsewhere for his origin but not in Sokoto state.
