Hate Speech Bill: 9th Senate Shaping Up Most Useless Senate In The History of Senating! – Japhet Omojuwa

Social commentator, Japhet Omojuwa has said the 9th Senate is shaping up to be the most useless Senate in the history of Senating.

This is a reaction to the proposed hate speech bill sponsored by Senator Sabi Abdullahi. The bill has passed the first reading.

“This Senate is shaping up to be the most useless Senate in the history of Senating! Nigeria’s got ample laws on defamation, libel, and other associated crimes. This bill is an attempt to gag free speech. Busy-body senate!,” he wrote on his Twitter page.

Top dignitaries in the society like former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, have also condemned the bill, describing as one which will violate Nigerians’ constitutionally guaranteed right to Freedom of Speech.
