High Court Sentence Activist to Seven Years in Prison Over Facebook Post

Justice Yusuf also ruled that Wala will be in Suleja prison for the 7 years.

According to reports gathered, Mukhtar in his petition alledged that his personality and image had been damaged by the Facebook post and this has led to the public rising against him.

The accused was found guilty of the following crimes; unlawful assembly, public incitement and criminal defamation of character. He was again found guilty of using the organization, the Citizens Action To Take Back Nigeria (CATBAN), to push his propaganda against Muhktar.

“Where is the document proving N3 billion made by chairman hajj commission?

“Why has the accused person failed to tender such document now that he has been dragged before a court of law?”

Justice Yusuf cited the inability of the accused to produce documents backing up his claim as a breach of public peac.
