Horrific Bus Crash In Ghana Claims The Lives of 70 Individuals

Over 70 persons have been confirmed to have died in a fatal accident involving two buses on the Jema-Techiman road on the Tamale highway in the Bono East region after a VVIP bus crashed with a Tata bus in Ghana.

The tragic incident which claimed the lives of 70, which happened very early today, March 22nd between 1:30 and 2:00 at Ampomakrom, also lead to 40 others passengers sustaining various degrees of injuries, with some in critical condition as at the time of filing this report.

According to some eyewitnesses yet unidentified, they stated that the accident happened when the buses with registration number GT 3915- 17 VVIP Akai buss loaded from Garu heading towards Kumasi collided with a Grand Bird bus with registration number GT 5694-18 loaded from Accra and heading towards Bolgatanga.

In addition, the Tata bus has burnt into ashes and beyond recognition, including some passengers and some others could not be identified as results of the shredded bodies in the burnt vehicle buses.

The eyewitness said in a statement:

“Reports so far gathered indicate that the driver of the VVIP buss loaded from Garu heading towards Kumasi, who has been burnt to death was dozing, however, some of the passengers alerted him to park off and rest for a while but he declined, leading to the cause of the accident,”

“The police and Fire Service personnel are at the scene to control traffic.”

Meanwhile, those set of people who are in critical conditions have been transported to Jema, Kintampo and Techiman hospitals for emergency treatments to be carried out.
