Ingredients for Making Chapman
Angostura bitters
½ cup Grenadine Syrup
A few dashes of Angostura Aromatic Bitters
35 cl Fanta Orange
35 cl Sprite
½ an Orange
½ a lemon
Ice cubes
Ribena Blackcurrant
A slice of lemon or cucumber to garnish
Method for Making Chapman
The preparation method or Chapman is pretty simple. Just squeeze out the juice from the orange and lemon and combine the other ingredients.
Stir well and add enough ice cubes.
Cut through the slice of lemon/cucumber to the side of the cup. Your Chapman is ready to serve.
Attention!
The Grenadine Syrup used in this recipe gives the drink its classic red colour. In the absence of this, you can use red currant (extract the juice) but these will give a slightly different taste.
Ribena concentrated blackcurrant is another ingredient that adds to the red colour and gives the drink a sweet taste.
This particular recipe is the alcohol version because of the Angostura bitters used, in case you want to make a non-alcoholic version, simply skip the Angostura Bitters.
Chapman is meant to remain chilled at all times, and refilling with ice cubes tends to reduce the sweetness. In order to prevent your drink from getting flat, you can make your ice cubes with a mixture of lemon juice and Sprite or even fanta.
You can enjoy your Chapman with food, snacks or better still, alone!
