- Ishaku lauds security agencies, urges to extend their search for more crimes in the state.
- Says he has never met Wadume before.
Governor Darius Ishaku of Traba State reacted to comment made by rearrested kidnap kingpin, Hamisu Wadume, who alleged to have duped him of Six Million Naira from him during his inglorious reign as a kidnapper in the state.
iDONSABI reported that Wadume in an interview claimed that he duped a governor of six million Naira pretending to know the future and the All Progressive Congress (APC) gave him 13 million Naira to prosecute the 2019 presidential election, which he claimed to spend seven million out of it.
Reacting to this, Ishaku in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity Bala Dan-Abu, said he was never a victim of Wadume’s duplicity and never lost money to his antics.
The governor who therefore urged the general public to discard and disregard Wadume’s confessions on the alleged defrauding said he only sees them as the rantings of a drowning criminal.
Ishaku, who said he has never met the suspected kidnap kingpin before said he would not even recognise him if they were to meet.
While commending the security agencies for promptly arresting Wadume whose arrest led to the dastardly murder of three police officers and one other person in Ibi earlier this month by some soldiers allegedly on the order of his friend, who is an Army captain.
As part of the security measures, the governor also urged security agencies to expand their search to all the nooks and crannies of Taraba State where the accomplices of Wadume and other criminal gangs may still be hiding to arrest them and bring them to book.
