‘I Lost A Friend’, Jonathan Remembers Late Yaradua

Immediate past Nigeria president, Goodluck Jonathan has eulogised late president Umar Musa Yaradu, describing him as a man who placed national interest above personal and ethnic gains.

It could be recalled that former president Yaradua died nine years ago. After his death, Jonathan who was then the vice president took over and completed his term before being elected president.

In a statement released on his social media page, Jonathan described him as a friend, colleague, brother and his boss who was selfless in his leadership style that his committed to peace-building, and democratic consolidation.

“On this day nine years ago I lost a friend, colleague, brother, and boss, President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua. He was a selfless leader who placed national interest above personal and ethnic gains.

“President Yar’Adua was a man of integrity with a humble spirit who always took upon himself the burden of national reconciliation, peace-building, and democratic consolidation.”

Jonathan who was Bayelsa Governor when he was nominated to be Yaradua’s running mate pointed that the late president, during his time in the number one office built bridges of love, foster unity and give hope to Nigerians.

“He used the opportunity he had in public service to build bridges of love, foster unity and give hope to Nigerians.

“Today, I remember and celebrate him for the works that he had done. Peace he lived for and homes of peace he built. Democracy he loved and democracy he nurtured. We will always remember you for your service. A servant leader truly you remain.”
