I am proud the say that INEC has over the years, enjoyed a very warm and mutually beneficial relationship with the media. This relationship went a notch higher with the inauguration of the present Commission in November 2015, and for good reason too.
The Commission regards the media in general and the Nigerian Union of Journalists in particular as critical stakeholders and partners in the electoral process. That is why we take the regular quarterly meetings that we hold with your good selves seriously.
The Commission is deeply grateful for the tremendous support it received from the media before and during the 2019 general elections. We are still enjoying that support.
This Forum will thus provide the opportunity for stock-taking, which couldn’t have come at a more auspicious time. Without doubt, the Nigerian Union of Journalists is well positioned to distill the issues.
The 2019 General elections included the Presidential and National Assembly Election and the State and House of Assembly Election.
