INEC Creates 10 Additional Centers in Bayelsa for CVR

The Independent National Electoral Commision (INEC) in Bayelsa State has created additional ten centres for the on going Continuous Voters Registration (CVR). Mr Clement Oha, Director and Administrative Secretary of Commission in Bayelsa, stated that the additional centers were created to ease the challenge formed by the difficult terrain in the state.

The nation-wide CVR, started in April with 9 centers in the state. This addition has led to the increase in centers from 9 to 19 in the state. “INEC already knows the terrain in Bayelsa and the difficulties in the transport system, so we will ensure that no eligible persons is disfranchised”, he said.

“The new centers were part of the Commissions collective efforts to decentralize the activity as centers are closer to the people; we ask for support of the stakeholders to ensure that the exercise is convenient. “Well, the registration exercise has recorded some success, the turnout so far has been courageous and encouraging” he said.

At Onopa, Yenogoa Local Government Area Center, INEC officers were present and the exercise was done orderly. An Officer at the center, who wants to remain anonymous said the exercise process has been smooth since the inception in April, the turnout has been “great”. Mr Joy Apreala, commended INEC for putting the registration early before the 2019 elections.

Yes, on the additional ten centeres in the state, it is a new development and it will give the opportunity to eligible individuals to register”, Apreala said.
