INEC extends the registration of poll agents

– INEC extended the registration of poll agents of various political parties for the Presidential election to 11th of Feb

– While the registration of poll agents for the Governorship election has been extended to 16th of Feb

Nigerian electoral body, Independent National Electoral Commission INEC has extended the registration of Poll Agents or party agents for the 2019 General election.

INEC disclosed it extended the registration because of lack of proper documentation in the course of Registration by some political parties.

The Electoral body disclosed that some political parties didn’t submit the photographs of their poll agents, which is against the laid down rules.

INEC disclosed that any poll agents whose picture is in submitted in the registration form will not be acknowledge during the election.

For this reason, the registration for poll agents for the Presidential election has been extended to 11th of February.

While the registration of poll agents for the Governorship has been extended to the 16th of February.

Below is an extract from the statement released by INEC, it read,

The Commission has decided as follows: 1. All political parties that submitted incomplete applications without the specimen signatures and photographs of the poll/party agents are strongly requested to regularize this on or before close of work on Monday the 11th February 2019

2. All Political Parties are reminded that February 16, 2019 is the last day for the submission of the names, photographs and specimen signatures of poll/party agents for the Governorship, State Assembly and Area Council elections.

3. Any list of poll/party agents that is not accompanied by specimen signatures and photographs of poll/party agents will be rejected.

4. It is unlawful 4 political parties to deploy poll/party agents whose names have not been forwarded to INEC & duly accredited in accordance with d law.The security agents have been so informed & no recognition,right or privilege will be accorded to anyone not accredited by INEC.
