It’s A Curse to Have Many Able Bodied Young Men Out of Jobs – Rep Member Bababtunde Salam

The lawmaker representing  Ede Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Bamidele Salam has said it is a curse to be a leader over many youths who are out of jobs.

Salam who has expressed his displeasure on the plan of the National Assembly to spend N37bn in renovating the National Assembly complex via a serie4s of tweets noted that there is likely going to be global economic recession as we head into a new decade.

“When a political leader wakes up in the morning and sees people queue up in his house to ask for help on food, medical and school fees, he should know that the system upon which he presides has failed.

“It is not a blessing but a curse to have so many able-bodied young men out of job and having to depend on freebies to survive. As we begin a new decade and in the very likely event of global economic slowdown,” he wrote.

He further called on the Federal Government to declare a state of emergency of unemployment.

“It is very important that the Federal Government declares a state of emergency on unemployment and convene an all-inclusive forum where a 10-year sustainable action plan will be adopted to create a minimum of 5 million jobs every year.”
