‘It’s Annoying That Messi Has More Ballon D’Ors Than Ronaldo’ – Sarri

Juventus manager, Maurizio Sarri has expressed his disgust for the fact that Lionel Messi has more Ballong D’Or wins than Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Italian manager said it is really annoying to think that any player has more Balon D’Or wins than the Portugese star.

Barcelona skipper, Messi moved one clear off his fiercest rival, Ronaldo having claimed his sixth Balon D’Or award in December.

The Argentine got the award ahead of the 34-year-old despite the Juventus forward lifting the Serie A title and winning the Nations Cup with his country, Portugal.

Maurizio Sarri looks determined to help Ronaldo add to his five awards and match Messi in the process. Ronaldo missed Juventus’ 4-0 thrashing of Udinese due to an illness.

The former Chelsea boss said to reporters after the game in Turin:

“I would like to help Cristiano win the sixth Ballon d’Or first.”

He added:

“It’s really annoying thinking that someone won more [Ballons d’Or] than him. I think about him and I think helping him, it is my goal and the goal of the team. It is right for him.”

The Italian boss also tipped another Argentine, Paolo Dybala to challenge for the award sometime in the future.

“Dybala is going to be one of the contenders in the next years. I think so,” the Juventus gaffer added.

While Ronaldo sat out of the Serie A outing due to an illness, Dybala put up a spectacular show, grabbing a brace and an assist in the process.

The Argentine playmaker teed up a pass for Gonzalo Higuain to convert in the 16th minute before curling a fine shot past Udinese goalie as the clock approached the hour mark, having scored a penalty before the interval.

That goal took the Argentine’s goal tally for the campaign to 11 across all competitions. Sarri added:

“Dybala is a top player. As every top player when they are becoming confident and having the right age, they are playing like a top player.

“I don’t think a manager can teach something to a top player. Dybala is going to leave a mark in world and European football in the next years. He has got the right age to leave a mark and he’s still got many years of his career. He is really confident in this moment after a few difficulties in the past.”
