JAMB Suspends Use of National Identification Number (NIN) For Registration Till 2021

The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board have suspended the use of National Identification Number (NIN) for its registration till 2021. This decision was taken on Saturday following the numerous complaints that Jambites were unable to register due to the multitude of people trying to register at the same time.

Obviously, the registration process was already looking like a mission impossible for many Jambites as they stormed different registration centers in their millions all across the country. The decision to use the National Identification Number as a prerequisite for obtaining the JAMB form was taken by the board sometimes in 2019. It was taken to curb the act of impersonation during the exams.

However, the registration process is beyond what the human, technical and technological resources that the Nigerian government can provide for the Jambites within the stipulated period, else, many will not be able to obtain the form this year.

Hence, The registrar of JAMB, Ishaq Oloyede, told newsmen in Abuja on Saturday that the policy was suspended till 2021 in order to give enough time for those who are yet to secure their NIN to do so.

Expectedly, the new development will give Jamb applicants more time to do their registration. He, however, advised applicants to comply with other registration procedures.
