Joelinton Gives Newcastle Away Win Over Tottenham
Joelinton scores his first Newcastle goal as the Magpies got a surprising away win over Tottenham and Steve Bruce first victory in charge.
The £36million signing from Hoffenheim put the visitors ahead after a defensive gaffe by Davinson Sanchez.
In spite of the continuous pressure from Spurs, Newcastle held on to a priceless away win as the Lilywhites tasted defeat for the first time this campaign.
Mauricio Pochettino snuck Sissoko into the Starting XI with Tanguy Ndombele having picked up an injury last weekend. The Argentine gaffer also opted to place the duo of Lo Celso and Christian Eriksen.
Not surprisingly, Tottenham started on the front foot, holding on to the ball like it was glued to their feet with 70 percent possession in the opening quarter of an hour but the 5-4-1 deployed Magpies proved too difficult for Pochettino’s side to penetrate.
Their best chance came through Heung-Min Son who came under a challenge by Fabian Schar having being put through on goal by Lucas Moura.
However, referee Mike Dean wasn’t moved neither did VAR give a penalty nod in the Lilywhites favour.
Afterwards, Sean Longstaff tried getting a long range goal but Lloris just tipped the ball over.
Tottenham failed to learn their lesson and were soon made to pay for it.

The injured Allan Saint-Maximin was replaced by Christian Atsu who chipped a ball to Joelinton. The Brazilian then slotted the ball home after Davinson Sanchez failed to make the interception.
The Lilywhites failed to muster a shot in the first three minutes and they thought they had got a goal when Son got to the end of a Kyle Walker-Peters cross but Martin Dubravka just like Batman was on hand to save the day.
Lucas Moura had a chance to level matters in the first-half stoppage time after a clever cross from Harry Kane, but the Brazilian couldn’t find the target.
Newcastle came out tops at the end of the encounter as Spurs fell to their first defeat of the campaign.
