The two brothers were arrested on February 13 2019 after returning from a visit to Nigeria and their apartment raided with some items considered as evidence seized.

However, Jussie Smollet’s lawyers, have argued that their client could not have been complicit in the allegation of stage managing his own attack.

Jussie Smollet’s lawyers said:

Jussie Smollett is angered and devastated by recent reports that the perpetrators are individuals he is familiar with.

He has now been further victimized by claims attributed to these alleged perpetrators that Jussie played a role in his own attack. Nothing is further from the truth and anyone claiming otherwise is lying.

One of the brothers linked to Jussie Smollet’s case happens to be Jussie’s personal trainer. That development has got Jussie’s lawyers arguing that it is impossible to believe the brothers could have carried out the attack on Jussie Smollet or falsely claim that Jussie had paid them to carry out the attack.
