JUST IN: Bayern Munich sign Benjamin Pavard

Bayern Munich have announced the signing of Benjamin Pavard on their official website and twitter handles. The Stuttgart man has put pen to paper on a 5-year deal but the player is not expected to feature until next season.

The German-based club are currently in Doha and won’t return to action earlier than 18th of January in a league game against Hoffenheim. They are also poised to face Liverpool in the next round of the Champions league. The tiki-taka styled German team are currently six points adrift of first-placed Borussia Dortmund. The French International however won’t be available for the fixture against Klopp’s side.

On the other hand, 16th-placed Stuttgart host Mainz as they look to stay far away from the bottom three

About the Player

Pavard has just come off the back of a world cup win with France. The defender’s strike in a 4-3 win against Argentina was the talk of the tournament. Consequently, the goal was nominated for the Puskas award.

The 22-year old can play in both center of defense and at the right-back position. He produced inept performances for France match in, match out in his favoured right-back position.

The Maubeuge-born youngster has long being linked with a move away from Stuttgart with Allianz arena his likely destination. The defender notwithstanding denied these claims, pledging his loyalty to Stuttgart.

It would be interesting to see the defender adorn a Bavarian shirt. He fits well into their style of play as he’s great at playing short passes and clearing the ball out of defence. His tendency to be cautious while at diving tackles is a plus for the club. Infact, he has being carded only twice this season which is great for a defender. He will do just fine for the Bavarians. He indeed has an overall rating of 7.08 at the World Cup according to whoscored.

His weakness on the other hand remains his tendency to lose concentration when off the ball. This should however fade out as he matures playing alongside world-class defenders.
