Juventus Defender Rugani Has Tested Positive To Coronavirus

Juventus defender, Rugani has tested positive for the Coronavirus. Although the Italian is yet to show any symptoms of the virus, he has been put in isolation.

The 25-year-old hasn’t been a regular for the Biaconeris this term, boasting only seven appearances in the whole campaign.

He was once again condemned to the bench in Juventus’ Serie A clash with Inter Milan only two days ago. The Biaconeris defeated the Nerazzuris 2-0 behind closed doors at the Allianz stadium.

Confirmation of the defender’s conditions comes only few days after the Serie A was put on hold until April the very least. The Italian outfit are now set to follow due quarantine process.

“The footballer Daniele Rugani has tested positive for Coronavirus-COVID-19 and is currently asymptomatic,” the Serie A giants said in a club statement.

“Juventus Football Club is currently activating all the isolation procedures required by law, including the census of those who have had contact with him.”

Rugani started out his career at Serie B side Empoli before pitching his tent with Juventus in 2015 where is contracted to remain till 2023.

The defender through social media app, Twitter sent a message to his fans, assuring them that he was doing fine.

“You will have read the news and that’s why I want to reassure all those who are worrying about me, I’m fine,” the defender tweeted.

“I urge everyone to respect the rules, because this virus makes no distinctions! Let’s do it for ourselves, for our loved ones and for those around us. #grazie.”

Testing positive to the virus comes only days after Cristiano Ronaldo was reported to have stayed back home in his Madeira hometown to limit the chances of getting the virus with Italy now in lockdown.

With all games in the Serie A suspended indefinitely, several proposals have been submitted concerning the league. One of such is that a winner for the Scudetto is not announced and that a shortlist of teams that have qualified for UEFA’s elite competition will be sent to the governing body.
