Keyamo Denies Receiving Money From NNPC For Buhari’s Campaign
Festus Keyamo (SAN), the spokesperson for the President Muhammed Buhari’s Campaign Organization, has denied receiving any money from the NNPC to run the publicity section of the campaign. Keyamo is also the Director of Strategic Communications of the campaign organization.
In a public statement on Thursday, he said that the organization would not depend on public purse for its operations.
Keyamo in a statement copied to the News Agency of Nigeria, said: Our attention has been drawn to fake news being circulated around that I received a large sum of money from the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation.
It was also reported that I submitted another budget to the same corporation to take charge of the media and publicity section of the campaign organization. In addition to this, he addressed the rumor as one of the rots in the system that President Buhari aims to eradicate.
“Experience has taught that sharing of money does not win elections. We do not intend to go that route.
“We shall continue to showcase the achievements of President Muhammadu Buhari to convince Nigerians that he deserves a second term in office ,” Keyamo said.
The spokesperson also added that his active participation in President Buhari’s 2019re-election bid is part of a larger crusade to ensure the enthronement of an accountable and true democratic government. “This is much more than a campaign to me; it is a crusade.
Therefore, I will come out to my shell and take an active stance on this campaign”. “I am more determined to contribute my own quota and ensure that those who looted our coffers in the past to build ‘big businesses’ will not stage a comeback to power”. “I will jealously guard my integrity while carrying out my crusade”, he said.
