Klopp Backs Dortmund To Go All The Way With Can And Haaland Signing

Jurgen Klopp has backed Dortmund to challenge for the Bundesliga title after signing former Liverpool midfielder, Emre Can and youngster, Haaland in the January transfer window.

The Liverpool boss described Can as a wonderful midfielder and backed him alongside Haaland to fire the Bundesliga giants to success this season.

Dortmund made a six-month loan move for Can this January with an option to buy him outright for £21m at the expiration of the loan.

The German pitched his tent with Juventus since the summer of 2018 having arrived there on a free transfer from Liverpool.

He made 37 appearances across all competitions in his first season with the Biaconeris, playing a pivotal role in the Serie A giants’ eight successive Serie A title win.

However, the German International fell down the pecking order at the middle of the park with Maurizio Sarri drafted in to replace the departed Massimiliano Allegri.

The 26-year-old has managed only eight league appearances for Juventus this term, falling behind Aaron Ramsey, Adrien Rabiot, Blaise Matuidi and Miralem Pjanic in the pecking order.

Before his ill-fated spell at the Alianz Stadium, Can had established himself as one of Liverpool’s brightest young prospects during his four-year stay at Anfield.

Emre Can decided to run out his contract at Anfield before making the switch. Yet, Klopp is still full of praise for him.

“I am happy for BVB and Emre Can. It’s a win-win situation. Emre is just a perfect match for this club,” the German boss told Bild .

“BVB got a top lad, a wonderful, versatile footballer with an outstanding attitude.

“I trust them to achieve a lot in the Ruckrunde (second half of the season) with Can and [Erling] Haaland.”

Can could be making his debut in Dortmund’s next fixture with the German giants coming up against Werder Bremen in the DFB Cup
