Kolarov Extends Contact With Roma To 2021

Aleksandr Kolarov has extended his contract with Serie A giants, AS Roma. The signed contract will see the defender remain at Roma till 2021.

The fullback was set to be freed on free transfer in the summer transfer window but the Giallarossi decided to still leave him on their books.

The Serbian switched to the Stadio Olympico from the Etihad for £4million in June 2017. He played a huge part in Manchester City winning two Premier League titles, two League Cup crowns and the FA Cup during his spell there.

The 34-year-old defender has played a total of 113 games for Roma across all competitions, bagging an impressive 17 goals and turning provider 18 times. He has started for the Giallarossi a total of 18times this term.

“I want to thank the club for this contract extension, it means a great deal to me,” Kolarov said on Tuesday after he had agreed fresh terms with the Serie A giants.

“Even now I see it as another starting point. I intend to keep on improving and developing in order to contribute to the growth of this club.

“I want to keep improving – physically, technically, my shooting… everything. At my age fitness is key, and I feel good. I’m convinced I can still improve a bit every day.

“I’ve worked with a lot of coaches and I’m not just saying this because he’s here now: [Paulo] Fonseca is a coach that can do really well here, and I hope to win something here with him.”

“We are delighted to be able to announce this renewal,” club chief executive Guido Fienga added of retaining the services of a no-nonsense veteran.
“Aleksandar has always been the consummate professional, both on and off the pitch. With this renewal, we can continue to count on that contribution.”

Kolarov who has made a name for himself as a freekick specialist found the net on eight hours occasions last campaign and has already scored five in the current campaign
