Koscielny To Be Sanctioned For Missing Pre-Season Tour

Arsenal chiefs have decided to take disciplinary action against Gunners captain, Koscielny after the 33 year old announced on Thursday at the London that he will not be a part of the travelling squad to the United States.

The Gunners will fly to the United States for their pre-season tour at lunchtime without their captain  Laurent Koscielny. The announcement by the defender has stunned Arsenal chiefs as the skipper revealed he would rather spend the day training.

The centre-back is desperate to return to him home country France this summer with Bordeaux firmly interested in the experienced defender.

The management of the North London club is said to be aware of Koscielny’s desire to leave the club but is demanding that they release him on a free, something Arsenal are unwilling to submit to.

They have pointed out that he has one year remaining on his contract with an option of an extra year and should honour that contract.

Although the Gunners want him to remain at the Emirates Stadium, they would be willing to consider should an offer be tabled for the 33 year old. Yet, there are no official bids for the Frenchman.

This stance has angered Koscielny who believes he should be left to leave on his terms after nine years at the North London club.

An official statement on the Gunners website read:

“We are very disappointed by Laurent’s actions, which are against our clear instructions.

“We hope to resolve this matter and will not be providing any further comment at this time.”

The North London club are due to play four games while on their tour to the United States beginning with a game against Colorado Rapids.

Talks will reportedly continue with Koscielny to sought out a common ground which is an issue Arsenal cannot cope with after what is already a frustrating summer.
